Employment law is a branch of law that deals with the rights, obligations, and responsibilities that exist in the employer-employee relationship. Wages, workplace safety, discrimination, and wrongful termination are all covered by employment legislation.

Typically, employment lawyers represent either employers or employees, but very seldom both. Employee advocates may engage with unions or directly with employees to initiate lawsuits against businesses or reach agreements on a variety of concerns.
